Tara Raye Russo began her studies in Fine Art at the School of Visual Arts, studied graphic design at Pratt Manhattan, and continued her studies abroad at L’ Escola de Massana, Barcelona, Spain and Lorenzo de Medici, Florence, Italy where her focus was on painting and installation. In 2000 she received her B.F.A. in Sculpture from William Paterson University, Wayne, New Jersey.

An interdisciplinary artist, Tara’s media consists of photography, video, site-specific installation and performance. In 2009 she self published a limited edition book of photographs titled XT2008.1 and a limited edition portfolio of cell phone pictures titled LOW RES. Ongoing projects include the video series Colorwheels started in 2004 which documents a locations color through locomotion and the site-specific series In Urban Zen inspired by Japanese Karsansui gardens which was awarded 2nd Place by the Newark Conservancy for Deep Water Well an outdoor art installation in 2011. Her performance Something In the Air: Jazz, a Temporal Integration Through Space was selected for The Conflux Festival 2010 Integration, Action and Transmission in New York. She has been included in group exhibitions at The Montclair Museum, The Jersey City Museum, and The Paterson Museum, The Contemporary Art Institute in Philadelphia, Rutgers University, and The New Jersey Institute for Technology. Her video work was selected for SITEFEST 2011 in Brooklyn, New York and for Pixel Pops! an outdoor screening event in New Jersey and Brooklyn in 2010. Tara was born in New Jersey and currently resides in Newark.
